What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is a text-matching software that helps students, educators, and researchers check their work for originality. When a document is submitted to Turnitin, it is compared against a vast and comprehensive database of:

  • Internet Content: Billions of current and archived web pages.

  • Academic Publications: Major journals, periodicals, and publications.

  • Student Papers: A global repository of previously submitted student work.

After the comparison, Turnitin generates a "Similarity Report" that highlights sections of the text that match other sources. This report is a valuable tool for identifying potential plagiarism and ensuring that all sources are cited correctly.
