Dr. C.C. Jayasundara, the Librarian of the University of Kelaniya won the Vice Chancellor’s award 2020 for the Outstanding Senior Researcher in the Library.

Dr. C.C. Jayasundara, the Librarian of the University of Kelaniya won the Vice Chancellor’s award 2020 for the Outstanding Senior Researcher in the Library.

Dr. C.C. Jayasundara, the Librarian of the University of Kelaniya won the Vice Chancellor’s award 2020 for theOutstanding Senior Researcher in the Library. Dr. Jayasundara obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Ruhuna with first class honours and joined University of Colombo as an Assistant Librarian.

Dr. C.C. Jayasundara, the Librarian of the University of Kelaniya won the Vice Chancellor’s award 2020 for theOutstanding Senior Researcher in the Library. Dr. Jayasundara obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Ruhuna with first class honours and joined University of Colombo as an Assistant Librarian. After a short period at the university, he proceeded to the University of Sheffield, UK on a commonwealth postgraduate scholarship (open stream) to complete his MSc in Information Management with specialization in health informatics. His research at Sheffield was “Use of Artificial Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms and Standard Statistical techniques to predict psychological outcomes of patients admitted to Accident and Emergency Department in Sheffield”. He completed PGC in English Linguistics from Birmingham City University UK and Doctor of Literature and Philosophy from UNISA. He is a Certified Professional Librarian of the Australian Library and Information Association with a specialism of Academic Research. He worked as a Sri Lankan Country Coordinator of the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP), Oxford in UK. His contribution to postgraduate Library Science education in Sri Lanka is remarkable. He functioned as the Programme Coordinator and a visiting lecturer of the Master of Library and Information Science programme at University of Colombo. The pivotal role he played in the introduction and progress of the Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management and Masters in Information Systems Management at the Faculty of Graduate Studies,University of Colombo is outstanding. He has taught and supervised students in many postgraduate and undergraduate programmes at University of Colombo, Open University of Sri Lanka, Fiji National University and Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) and he functioned as an invited course writer of the BLIS (Honours) (English medium) programme of the OUSL. He has won several awards for publishing higher grade journals commended by the Australian Research Council (ARC). He is a past president of the University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka and has also served as the Editor of the Journal of the University Librarians Association (JULA), which is indexed in LISA and EBSCO Host. His research interests include theoretical and computational research in information Management, applied librarianship and modeling user behaviour. The Google Scholar citation of Dr. Jayasundara is 193 with h-index of 7 and i10 index of 5.
