The opening ceremony of the Library Museum and the Art Gallery of the University of Kelaniya in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the university was held on the 30th of March 2023 from 2.30 pm onwards at the Main Library premises of the university.
The University of Kelaniya library celebrated World Braille Day on the 11th of January 2023, with an exhibition organized by the Main Library.
On the 11th of January 2023, arrangements were made to proudly inaugurate the "Information Lounge for Emeritus Professors".
The Main Library of the University of Kelaniya recently established a bookshop within the library premises that displays and sells books and other publications written by the academic staff members (including the retired academics) of the University.

As per the suggestion and guidance of the librarian, Information Literacy Training Programme (LPTS) part -1 conducted by the Interactive Media Unit was successfully conducted for 29 library staff members and their performances were evaluated through an online examination held on 08th April 2021.

Launch of a newly established digital wall board was held on the 23rd of March 2021 at the Main Library of University of Kelaniya.
The Library of University of Kelaniya organized a book donation programme at library premises on 18th of February, 2021.
Dr. C.C. Jayasundara, the Librarian of the University of Kelaniya won the Vice Chancellor’s award 2020 for theOutstanding Senior Researcher in the Library. Dr. Jayasundara obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Ruhuna with first class honours and joined University of Colombo as an Assistant Librarian.
A pirith chanting was conducted on 1st of January 2021 to celebrate the opening of the librarian's new office and to bless the library staff , the university community, and all the others in this pandemic situation with the participation of the librarian, academic and non-academic library staff.
Dr. M.I.G. Suranga Sampath works as a Senior Assistant Librarian of the Library, University of Kelaniya. He earned his B.Sc. Special Degree in Mathematics with honors from University of Ruhuna in 2008.
Another session of presenting Senate Awards and Cash Prizes to appreciate the researchers at the University of Kelaniya was held on the 23rd of September 2020 at the Senate Room of the university.

Rubasinghe, Mr. Dhammika Rathnayake accompanied by the library attendants visited both University of Colombo library and University of Sri Jayawardhanapura library on 10th of February 2020.

The Library of the University of Kelaniya was presented an award of appreciation by Emerald Publishing in the United Kingdom for being the Top user of Emerald Content 2018/2019.
Senior Assistant Librarian, Dr. W. M. T. D. Ranasinghe of the Library, University of Kelaniya successfully completed his PhD in Library and Information Sciences at Chonnam National University in the Republic of Korea 2019.
Prof. Wimal Dissanayake’s personal book collection was donated to the library of the University of Kelaniya on the 25th of June 2019 at the Auditorium of the library.

The University Librarians Association of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Library of the University of Kelaniya organized a two-days workshop on Library Housekeeping and Operation Support for University Library Attendants. Over 50 participants from 12 universities attended the programme.
